Piet Mondrian was a Dutch painter who largely launched the modern abstract art movement. Piet explored line and composition in a way that was his own, working along the lines of cubism and simplifying his subject matter until it was unrecognizable. With his limited palette, his work jumps off the wall even more, making connections to our physical world of shapes and geometry and our visual world of primary colors.
P.S. Did you know Mondrian was influenced by van Gogh and impressionism?
