Sealed Treasure Journal - Of Aspen Special Edition

These Sealed Treasure Journals are the most exciting and unique collaboration project we've done to date. Designed custom for Of Aspen, these special edition journals have both our names and edition number on the cover and even have special bellybands.

Designer Melissa Constandse outdid herself with a two-color cover with silver foil, revealing hidden skull and hourglass motifs, hinting at our joined fascination with death and time preservation. In beautiful silver letters is a quote from Mary Shelley, "The stars may behold my tears, and the winds drink my sights; but my thoughts are a sealed treasure." Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein, was often misunderstood, as many women artists are. Through art, we have the freedom to express what isn't always able to be said, and in that, we find community and reassurance that we are not alone.

The day I discovered Open Sea, I, too, felt a wave of reassurance rush over me as I found my people. Beautifully made stationery, but with recurring deep and dark themes, Melissa stole my heart that day. As a huge admirer of her art, this project was a dream come true to work personally with her in making such a special run. I hope you enjoy it as dearly as we do.
