Seurat Pin

Although A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte is a masterpiece, Georges Seurat (1859-1891) worked for years on perfecting his work, repainting and planning over 28 drawings, 28 oil sketches, and three canvases to get it just right. Seurat even changed up the scenery and altered what the Island actually looked like to depict exactly what he wanted to make his composition balanced. He was influenced by Ogden N. Rood (1831-1902), who believed that when leaving colors to mix in the eye rather than on the canvas, they would appear more luminous. This seems to be a similar technique also used by Vincent van Gogh!
