Danu is the Celtic mother goddess who embodies the life giving forces of earth and water. She is the mother of the Tuatha Dé Danann, the Irish gods and fairy people. She wears a crown of oak leaves and other midsummer blooms. Her chest contains a well of crystal clear water. The ripples of the water form a triskelion, a symbol of the cyclical nature of life. She embodies the sacred act of creation.
